Eccho Rights, the Swedish distributor, has sold a majority stake in its business to South Korean media conglomerate CJ ENM
Eccho Rights, the Swedish distributor of TV series, has offices in Stockholm, Istanbul, Madrid, Seoul and Manila.
Run by MD Fredrik af Malmborg and Managing Partner Nicola Söderlund, Eccho Rights internationally sells dramas such as Scandinavian arms dealer drama Conspiracy of Silence and Turkish revenge thriller Stiletto Vendetta as well as formats such as Canadian competition format Battle of the Blades.
In the past year, Eccho Rights has licensed more than 15,000 hours of TV series to more than 100 countries.
This transaction will accelerate the South Korean media conglomerate’s global expansion strategy into Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, by bringing synergies and strengthening CJ ENM’s format business, content sales and distribution, as well as developing the extensive catalogue of IPs represented by Eccho Rights.
Eccho Rights will continue to work with all parties in South Korea despite its partnership with CJ ENM, as the company continues to focus on remaining an independent distributor to producers worldwide.
